1/21/13 – San Elijo Hills 5k Run/Walk

The family-centered race geared at all levels, drew 300 participants last year and is expected to draw 500 this year for its course through the San Elijo Hills town square, parks and neighborhoods.
The event, billed as the “toughest 5k in North County” includes a 1k course and 100-yard dash for kids along with jump houses and games.
Proceeds of the event will benefit San Elijo Middle and Elementary Schools, Sharlie’s Angels, which is raising funds for a heart/lung transplant for 32-year-old San Marcos resident Sharlie Kaltenback, and The Academy at San Elijo, a nonprofit youth sports group.
The annual San Elijo Hills 5k Run/Walk and street fair is Jan. 21
Race begins at 8 a.m. with race day check in at 7 a.m.
Starting at San Elijo Middle School, 1600 Schoolhouse Way in San Marcos.
New this year is a street fair 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Schoolhouse Way between Elfin Forest Road and San Elijo Road with vendors from throughout Southern California, selling health and fitness products, crafts, art, pet items, jewelry and clothing along with food.
