What does it mean to live a healthy and balanced life?

Everyone is striving to live a healthy and happy life. Each person is different, and not everyone fits into a defined model of total health and balance. If you look at all your health pieces; physical health, emotional health and spiritual being it’s easy to understand why “balance” truly holds the key to wellness.

Nowadays, it can be quite difficult for many active, successful and seemingly “happy” people to stay healthy and happy. Many people are trying to squeeze in time for their family, work, friends and time to just enjoy life.

Living a balanced life can be a bit of a challenge, but if you can discipline yourself and stay focused and prioritize things that make you happy, you will feel satisfied at the end.

SD Healthy Living considers all aspects of your life to help live a balanced lifestyle; such as taking care of your body, prioritize your tasks, and doing things that are meaningful with your free time. We have listed a few pointers to help you with your life balance journey.

Take care of your body, so you can take care of your life
Although we all live a busy life it is very important to take the time to take care of yourself. Exercising and eating a well-balanced diet is essential for a balanced lifestyle, because it ensures your body with energy and nutrition to help make it function properly.

Prioritize now, less stress later
Plan and organize at the start of each week to help keep you on track. Another thing that may help you stay prioritized is to overestimate the time it takes for you to complete each task. If it takes you normally 3 hours, then estimate you will be done an hour later. Overestimating the amount of time that it takes you to complete a task will also help you if there is any hiccups that set your schedule back along the way.

Feed your Spirit, it will reward you
Developing and building relationships with like-minded and positive people gives us a sense of motivation and achievement. Most people that want to give and help others out feel less selfish and more selfless. Meaningful ways to spend your time could include things trying a new activity, volunteering, and visiting family or friends you haven’t seen in a while.

While exploring local wellness centers, I visited 2013 SD Healthy Living Nominee, Thrive Wellness, located at 4080 Centre St, Ste 202.

Thrive Wellness believes that taking responsibility for our own bodies as well as our environment will truly create a balanced lifestyle. I was able to discuss some of my own personal injuries I have been facing and Thrive Wellness educated me further on the proper techniques I need to do in order to help with my hip pain. Not only is the atmosphere very welcoming, the staff is well educated and phenomenal.
